“Freedom Star” (Minute 106)

Post by Ceridwen »

I don’t own the art books, and I can’t seem to confirm this online anywhere, but I have a distinct memory that at one point the reason why Leia is leading a Resistance apart from the Republic is because she learned that they had created their own superweapon, under the auspices of protecting themselves from another Death Star (in the concept art it kinda looked like a massively-engined cone that rammed into the super-laser dish of a Death Star) and she wanted nothing to do with it.

Can anyone else confirm this, or is my memory playing tricks on me?

I checked the Wookieepedia article on "Superweapons" and you're exactly right. They called it the War-Hammer and it was a big old ship that was able to poke through defensive shields. Kinda glad they didn't go with that one!
