Curious if anyone has seen this? We have the movie as they intended it and I'm not normally one to suggest a director/artist is wrong but in so many ways it seems like this is a direction they should have gone with. It would have tied the saga together really well. Just watching this one time I felt so much more emotion in the scene. I suppose I could see the argument that it would take away from Rey's journey and that she isn't technically a Skywalker, but at the end she takes the name anyway.

I actually love this redone ending, I think it plays better to the surprise of the dialogue, "I am all jedi", and is what they had in mind w the voices summoning her back to strength. I really want to know if Abrams, et al, discussed anything like this when they wrote the scene. It seems obvious to me now, but that's hindsight...
I can't imagine how this detracts from Rey's journey at all, but I'm sure someone can set me straight
