Galaxy's Edge Lightsabers

Post by Ando_Calrissian »

I'll be heading to WDW in May and am planning on doing the Savi's Workshop lightsaber build. All the reviews I've seen say it's worth the $200 for the experience and the personalized souvenir, but I've seen some photos where they appear closer to off-the-shelf plastic toys than Force FX quality, so I'm skeptical. Curious if anyone here has done this or seen one in person.

Also, if anyone else happens to be at WDW between May 5th (missed it by THAT much) and May 8th, I'll be the one in the SWM Chalmun's Cantina tshirt.

I reluctantly agreed to go to Savi's at Disneyland with one of my closest friends who really wanted to go. Was it a little bit cheeseball because it's aimed at children and I'm nearly 40? Yes. But another friend of ours commented later that we were walking around the park with a bit more swagger once we had our lightsabers, and I don't doubt her. I'm nothing but happy with mine.

As for the build quality, they've got nice heft to them, and the others in our party were surprised by how heavy they were. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Thanks for the advice! Good to know.

I fully expect to revert to my nine-year-old self as soon as I set eyes on the Falcon, so let the cheeseball commence.

Definitely do it. The outer finish of the sabers is like a semi gloss, which is why in photos you may think it just looks plasticky. As previously mentioned, they ARE hefty. much heftier than an ultrasaber or any other custom saber I've had.

But the experience overall is very worth it. Much more theatric and immersive than you might expect, which I thought was one of the bet parts of the park.

Best thing overall at galaxy's edge to me was the milk, though. that blue milk is SO GOOD. I am testing prototype copycat recipes and will share once I reach success.

And thus the SWM Cookbook was born... (but for real, that should be a thing.)

Fantastic! Appreciate all the info.
